Rock & Roll Texas Hold Em - Charity Poker Event at Murphy’s Wednesday

Now that the nights are getting warm enough to stay outside a bit, one of the more popular post-sunset hangouts will definitely be the recently refurbished patio deck at Murphy’s Restaurant and Pub in downtown Boone.
Next Wednesday, April 19th, there will be an added incentive to go to Murphy’s when it hosts the First Rock & Roll Texas Hold ‘Em Charity Poker Event.
Organized by Appalachian State University student Kyle Grove and others, the Rock & Roll Texas Hold ‘em event will raise money to replace outdated computers in the Communications Department at Walker Hall.
Music for the event will be provided by the rock & roll, jazz and country combo The Erasers, featuring banjo picker Brian Swenk. Cover charge for the band is $5 per person.
The Rock & Roll Texas Hold ‘em Tournament starts at 10 p.m. in Murphy’s dining area and features a minimum $15 donation. Prizes for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd places in the poker tournament will be provided by a number of local businesses.
